What to wear to your first yoga class

So you are ready to go for your first yoga class but you are not sure what to wear?? While it might be little intimidating to hear because all you have to go in your yoga class with an open mind but it’s not true. However, you might have to understand that yoga is not about just fitness it is much more than that with a history of thousands of years. It is deep wisdom and philosophy to transforming lives. So all you have to do is to be comfortable hence your attire should be comfortable enough while practicing yoga so that you can easily move in your poses.

So what to wear during your yoga practice

It is really important to wear some comfortable clothing without worrying too much revealing while bending during downward dogs or forward fold. That means you don’t want to wear a top or shirt that would ride up over your and the pants that wouldn’t be too tight. So to make the most out of your yoga practice wear attire that also moves with you yet stretchy enough to avoid any kind of restriction in the movement. During your yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, you will continuously practice yoga on an everyday basis hence invest in an article of clothing that is soft and breathable yet thick enough to avoid any inconvenience.

Bottoms: yoga pants, capris and leggings

There's nothing more comfortable than a good pair of legging however while choosing a pair of legging in which you feel comfortable while moving. Leggings are stretchable in nature that will give you a full range of motion and also your teacher will be able to check your alignment. Make sure to choose a pair of legging which is full length and is thick and quick dry in nature. For men, one can go for shorts or cropped pants according to your comfort.

Tops

For women, it is best to go for long and fitted top till waist which stays put and will not fall onto your head whether you will twist, bend forward or backwards or even on upside down. Make sure to wear a good sports bra underneath. You can also opt for full sleeves well-fitted tops that will not only keep you comfortable while practice but also keep you warm after full-day immersion at your yoga ttc class in case you are visiting in the season of autumn.

Men can go for fitted T-shirts, tanks or a muscle T which is of soft and breathable material. One can also opt for a long and breathable cotton shirt unless it is not restricting your movements.

Shoes or no shoes

When it comes to yoga, it is best to go barefoot as it will help to develop your balance and keep a firm grip over your mat. Remove your shoes outside the class, especially if you have opted for a yoga teacher training in India or if you are feeling cold then you can wear calf sleeve or special yoga socks.

Take a note

While practicing yoga in some pose you might be upside down or your one leg would be in the air or you will be squatting down that might let your clothes go up or down which is okay for a moment. Hence to avoid any sort of wardrobe malfunction go for appropriate yoga clothing, remove any accessory while practicing yoga to avoid any unnecessary distraction.
